Crash Course

Hello there! As you know, I have compiled a guide of how-to-play for the Facebook game of MouseHunt. As I said on the front page, the goal is to provide an in-depth look at what you can do and a look at why you do it.

However, I’ve been getting numerous messages/emails asking for a more direct approach. For better or for worse, not everyone wants to know why they’re doing something- they just want a direct list of “Go here, then here” in an elaborate form of hand-holding.

So let’s hold hands, in a totally we’re-friends-but-let’s-not-blow-this-out-of-proportion manner. This is not going to explain anything any more than is absolutely necessary. If you want explanations, consult the larger guide. In this portion we’re going to be very direct and to the point- this is what you should do and when.

If you need any help with crafting recipes, consult the MH Kitchen Crafting Guide (click “more info” on the information sidebar)

Let’s not waste any more time then, shall we?

Novice

- Select the Tacky Glue Trap for your first trap
- Hunt in the Meadow
- Use Cheddar cheese
- When you save up the money, purchase the Wooden Base with Target.

- Hunt in Town of Gnawnia
- Purchase the 500 pound spiked crusher
- Switch to Marble cheese
- Do Not purchase the Stone Base. The Wooden Base with Target is better
- Purchase the Mouse Trebuchet

Apprentice

- Move to the Harbour
- Purchase the Swiss Army Mouse Trap. While in Gnawnia, purchase and switch to Swiss Cheese
- Do Not purchase another base. Once again, the Wooden Base with Target is better
- Look for the Whisker Woods Clearing Map Piece that’s dropped by a Granite Mouse

Journeyman

- Move to the Mountain
- Get a Burroughs Laboratory Map Piece from a Ninja Mouse

- Travel to the Calm Clearing
- Get a Gnarled Tree Map Piece from a Cyclops Mouse
- Purchase an Explosive Base

Master

- Head to the Laboratory
- Collect a Key to Digby from the dwarf mouse
- Get a Tattered Mousoleum Map from the zombie mouse
- Collect Radioactive Blue Curd Potions from Steel, Granite and Bionic mice. 30 if you’re going to use brie, 10 if you’re going to use Superbrie+

- Once you have 140,600 gold, travel to The Town of Digby and purchase a Sinister Portal
- Travel to the Mousoleum, equip a Sinister Portal, an Explosive Base, and Radioactive Blue Cheese. Do not use any other trap or cheese
- Get a Shredded Furoma Map Piece from a Lycan Mouse
- If you run out of Radioactive Blue Cheese, but do not have a map piece, either go to the Laboratory and collect more potions, or go to Digby, collect Meteorite Pieces from Granite Mice, and craft Moon Cheese (recipe found here). You can also go to Digby and get it from a Mole Mouse
- Leave the mousoleum once you’ve gotten the map piece- don’t use the rest of your Radioactive Blue

- Travel to the Great Gnarled Tree
- Purchase the Venus Mouse Trap
- Catch a Fairy Mouse and collect the Lagoon Map Piece
- Get 20 Radioactive Sludge; hunt in the GGT with Radioactive Blue using your Sinister Portal and Explosive base to do this the fastest.
- Finish the rank of Master in the GGT with the Venus Mouse Trap

Grandmaster

- Travel to Training Grounds
- Smash your Venus Mouse Trap and combine it with 20 radioactive sludge to create the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap
- Hunt in the Training Grounds with the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap, the Explosive Base (Polar Base if you have it) and Brie Cheese. Do NOT try to use other traps, such as the Force Field or a Digby Drillbot.
- Collect a Ticket to the Burroughs Bazaar from either an Archer Mouse, a Kung Fu Mouse or an Assassin Mouse.
- Buy 19 splintered wood (or as much as you need to have 19 total), 250 Curds & Whey, 10 Burroughs Salmon, 10 Nori and 3 Rice Paper from the Training Grounds General Store.

- You need to collect 95,000 gold. The best way to do that is to head to the Great Gnarled Tree.
- When you have 95,000 gold, head to the Bazaar
- Repair your Shredded Furoma Map and purchase 10 Paint Brand Paint, 10 Invisi-Glue, and 10 Cheesy Fluffs
- While you wait, you can either head back to the Great Gnarled Tree, or head to the Laboratory to collect some more Radioactive Blue Curd Potions

- Collect your map from the Bazaar and travel to the Dojo
- Catch Student of the Cheese Belt, Student of the Cheese Claw and Student of the Cheese Fang mice.
- Every time you collect 3 tokens, craft the corresponding cheese and head to the Meditation Room
- Attempt to catch the master mouse of the corresponding school. Once you have caught one mouse, stop using that cheese, for now
- Get ONE of each master mouse

- If you have not gotten the Ambush Blueprints already from either a Worker Mouse or an Assassin Mouse, go to the Meditation Room or Pinnacle Chamber and get them from a Hapless Mouse
- Collect 62,000 gold and purchase 8 Droid Parts from the bazaar general store. Also buy 5 Ionized Salt
- If you are less than a 70% Grandmaster, attempt to craft the Ambush Trap. If you fail, collect the parts again and hold them until you reach Legendary. If you are at least 70% Grandmaster, then save them for Legendary anyway.
- Whether you get the Ambush or not, head back to the Dojo and continue hunting, with either your Ambush or with the other trap you had if you failed to successfully craft the Ambush.

Legendary

- Craft the Ambush Trap, if you weren’t successful
- Craft as much Glutter, Susheese, and Combat cheese as you can
- Go to the Meditation room and catch as many Master of the Cheese mice as you can. Do not craft the Master’s Seal with the shards
- Craft Rumble Cheese using the 3-piece method
- Head to the Pinnacle Chamber and catch at least one Master of the Dojo Mouse and get the Onyx Stone

- Go to the Bazaar and repair your Tattered Mousoleum Map. If you cannot afford it, go to the Laboratory and collect the gold.
- While the map is being repaired, go to the Laboratory again and collect more Radioactive Blue Curd Potions. You need about 30 (or 10, if you’re using SB+) more potions
- Once you have 316,350 gold, head to the Catacombs. If you get enough potions before having enough gold, head back to the Great Gnarled Tree to collect the gold
- Purchase the Obelisk of Slumber
- In the Catacombs, collect 12 Scrap Metal from the Scavenger Mouse and Terror Knight Mouse, as well as getting 632,700 gold
- Also, get a Keeper’s Candle which is dropped by the Keeper Mouse
- Once you have the scrap metal and the gold, purchase the Mysterious Blueprints and craft the Arcane Capturing Rod of Never Yielding Mystery

- Go back to the Bazaar and buy a bunch of Ionized Salt (300 is a good number to start)
- Purchase the required ingredients and craft the Dehydration Base
- Craft Ancient Cheese using any formula you choose, be it one of the two crafting recipes or the potions formulas
- Go to the Forbidden Grove, which is only accessible for three out of every six hours (check the Forbidden Grove Timer on Pooflinger to know exactly when) using your ACRoNYM, Ancient Cheese, and the Dehydration Base
- Collect Runes from Golem, Gargoyle, Gate Guardian, Sorcerer and Scavenger Mice in the Forbidden Grove

- Spend some time in the Catacombs, Forbidden Grove and Acolyte Realm collecting gold. Approximately 1.6 million gold (!!)

- Purchase 900 Splintered Wood from the Training Grounds general store (or however many you need to purchase to get to 900)
- Go to the Town of Digby and purchase the Digby Drillbot
- Head to the Lagoon and purchase 100 rope, 70 bolt of cloth, and 1 King’s Reserve Bubbleh
- Collect 1 Ship Blueprints from the Hydra mouse using Digby Drillbot, Explosive base and Gnarled cheese
- Collect 18 Scrap Metal from either the Scavenger Mouse or from the Hydra Mouse if you haven’t done so already
- Craft 1 Unchristened Ship from the splintered wood, rope, bolt of cloth, blueprints and scrap metal. If you’re a Hero rank or above, add the Bubbleh to the formula to skip the next step
- Craft 1 SS Huntington with the Unchristened Ship and the King’s Reserve Bubbleh

- Travel to the SS Huntington (The best travel costs come from the Catacombs and the Bazaar)
- Purchase 1 Net Cannon trap and equip it with the Dehydration and Brie Cheese.
- Collect the Compass from the Bottled Mouse, the Telescope from the Captain Mouse, and the Sextant from the Shipwrecked Mouse

- Craft them together to create 1 Navigation Kit
- Go to Cape Clawed and purchase 200 Gouda

- Head to the Nerg Plains; use Ambush, Explosive, Gouda
- Collect 30 savoury vegetables
- Go back to Cape Clawed and buy ingredients from the general store; craft 15 Gumbo cheese
- Hunt for the Grandfather Mouse and collect the Thorned Vine. If you fail to get it, go back to the Nerg Plains, get more savoury vegetables and try again with more Gumbo
- Purchase the Thorned Mouse Blueprints, smash your Mutated Venus Mouse Trap and craft the Thorned Venus Mouse Trap. If you lack the points, go to the Elub Sands to collect more points
- Smash the Thorned Venus Mousetrap and craft the Horrific Venus Mouse Trap

- Hunt for 30 seashells with Harpoon Gun, Explosive, Gouda
- Head back to Cape Clawed and buy ingredients to craft 15 shell cheese
- Hunt for the Elder Mouse and get the Ancient Spear. As with the Grandfather, if you fail you need to get more Shell and try again
- Purchase the Ancient Spear Launcher Blueprints from the general store, smash your harpoon gun and craft the Ancient Spear Gun. If you lack the points, go back to Elub to get them
- Purchase enough ingredients to make 30 more Shell cheese
- Move back to the Elub Sands, get 60 seashells and make 30 more shell cheese
- Catch the Protector, Champion and Elub Chieftain mice
- Collect 36 blue pepper seeds and the Ancient Frayed Blueprints piece (dropped by the Elub Chieftain)

- Go to the Derr Dunes.
- Hunt for 30 delicious stones with Digby Drillbot, Explosive, Gouda
- Head back to Cape Clawed and buy ingredients to craft 15 crunchy cheese
- Hunt for the Ages Mouse and get the Rhino Horn. As with the others, make more crunchy if you run out before getting the horn
- Purchase the Rhinobot Blueprints from the general store, smash your Digby Drillbot and craft the Rhinobot. If you lack the points, go back to Elub to get them. If it’s gold, head to the Derr Dunes. And if you don’t have enough stale SB+, hunt with SB+ in the Acolyte Realm using the ACRoNYM and explosive base.
- Purchase enough ingredients to make 30 more Crunchy cheese
- Move back to the Derr Dunes, get 60 Delicious Stones and make 30 more crunchy cheese
- Catch the Guardian, Gladiator and Derr Chieftain Mice

- Plant 9 purple, red, yellow, blue, green and orange pepper plants and pick the peppers
- Craft as much of each color of Havarti cheese as you can (should be about 18)
- Purchase the Bottomless Grave *unless* you have 20 million points and 2.7 million gold; if you do, purchase the Clockapult of Time
- Head to the Jungle of Dread
- Catch the Primal Mouse and collect the Ethereal Rope from it
- Catch the Stonework Warrior Mouse and collect the Engraved Stone Slab from it
- Catch the Fetid Swamp Mouse and collect the Hinge of Eternity from it
- Catch the Chitinous Mouse and collect the Timeless Mystic Gem from it
- Catch the Jurassic Mouse and collect the Ancient Relic Staff from it
- Catch the Magma Carrier Mouse and collect the Encrusted Metal of Time from it
- Combine the 4 blueprint pieces (purchase the torn piece from the general store now if you didn’t before) and create the Ancient Box Trap Blueprints

Knight

- Combine the Ancient Box Trap Blueprints with the Ethereal Rope, Engraved Stone Slab, Hinge of Eternity, Timeless Mystic gem, Ancient Relic Staff and Encrusted Metal of Time to create the Ancient Box Trap
- Go back to the Acolyte Realm and catch an Acolyte Mouse if you haven’t done so yet
- Using the Frozen Scroll that you obtain from your acolyte, make an Ice Maiden Trap (combine it with 60 runes and a smashed high tension spring trap)

- Collect 10 red, blue and yellow pepper seeds so that you can make 10 inferno pepper plants. Pick them and combine 6 peppers with 16 coconut milk, 18 curds & whey and 6 fire salt to create inferno havarti
- Head to Dracano, and using the ice maiden and the inferno havarti, catch a dragon mouse!

MouseHunt Walkthrough -section 4-

The original post :http://interactive.onlinemathlearning.com/mh-index.php

MouseHunt is a Facebook game where you set traps to catch various weird and wacky mice. Over the years it has developed into a content-rich game, with many paths and possible strategies. It is fun to explore, but there are certain areas where new players might get lost in, not knowing what to do next. That's what this guide is here for. :) The following information is the result of experience and the study of the MouseHunting community.

Chapter 13: S.S. Huntington II

# Once you have crafted the Ship, a new location opens, the S.S. Huntington II. Time to sail off to the great unknown! Who knows what strange lands one might discover?
# We had ninjas and their kin covered in Furoma; now it's the pirates' turn in the limelight. Yarr! The mice here are a mix of Tactical and Hydro types.
# You do not need any special cheese for this area; Brie will do fine. Now let's look at weapon and base choices.
# There is a trapsmith here; let's check it out. They sell two weapons, the Harpoon Gun and the Net Cannon, both of the Hydro type, and one base, the Aqua Base.
# At 664,000 gold for one of the weapons, you may not be able to afford them. So what do you use instead? If you have the PartyBot, use it here. If you don't, the Ambush trap doesn't do too bad here, as there are many Tactical mice here, some of which award a fair amount of gold. (They are, after all, pirates.) Or you can (you guessed it) go back to the Catacombs to make more gold.
# If or when you do have the gold, which should you buy? It's a bit of a toss up. The power bonus of the Harpoon Gun catch slightly more mice than the luck of the Net Cannon, but the luck may be useful for maximizing loot drops here and in the next locations.
# Regardless, there is an easy way of converting between the two. Smashing either weapon with your Hunter's Hammer will yield Launcher Parts. Crafting the Launcher Parts alone will construct the Harpoon Gun, and crafting the Launcher Parts with 1 Rope (from the Lagoon General Store) will construct the Net Cannon.
# The Aqua Base is notable for having the highest Luck of all available bases. Go ahead and buy it as it will be useful for maximizing loot drops.
# Catch the Bottled Mouse with the Compass, the Captain Mouse with the Telescope, and the Shipwrecked Mouse with the Sextant.
# Craft these items together to get the Ocean Navigation Kit. This is the key to the next set of locations, the Tribal Isles. You can then move on to the next chapter.

Chapter 14: The Tribal Isles

* Note: These are very new locations. New things are still being discovered and as such the information here is tentative.
* The Tribal Isles consist of six locations:
  • Cape Clawed
  • Elub Shore
  • Nerg Plains
  • Derr Dunes
  • Jungle of Dread
  • Dracano (not accessible at this time)
 * In this chapter we will be covering the first four locations.
* You will want to visit Cape Clawed first.
* You don't really want to hunt here; the mice here aren't worth much points or gold, and any new types can be found in the next locations. You are basically here to check out the shoppes.
* The Cheese Shoppe sells a new kind of cheese, Gouda cheese. Should you upgrade? If you're after points and loot drops, you should; if you're short on gold, Brie would be the more economical choice.
* Note the Tribal Base sold at the Trapsmith. It has the highest power bonus available in the game. It does, however, require 14 million points, so you may not have the points yet.
* You are now ready to hunt in the next locations:
o The Elub Shore mice are of the Hydro type. Use the Harpoon Gun or Net Cannon here. The mice here drop Seashells and tend to be worth more points than gold.
o The Nerg Plains mice are of the Tactical type. Use the Ambush here. The mice here drop Savoury Vegetables and are somewhat balanced between points and gold.
o The Derr Dunes mice are of the Physical type. Use the PartyBot or Digby Drillbot here. (The ACRONYM, though effective on Physical mice in previous locations, is ineffective here.) The mice here drop Delicious Stones and tend to be worth more gold than points.
* I recommend you use the Aqua Base to maximize loot drops in those locations.
* The loot is needed to craft three types of special cheese. (In fact you can also collect all three kinds of loot from Cape Clawed, but as I said, the mice there aren't worth much). They are as follows (all recipes make 15 pieces):
o Shell
+ 30 Seashells
+ 10 Coconut Milk
+ 60 Curds and Whey
+ 40 Salt
o Gumbo
+ 30 Savoury Vegetables
+ 15 Coconut Milk
+ 90 Curds and Whey
+ 1 Salt
o Crunchy
+ 30 Delicious Stones
+ 20 Coconut Milk
+ 10 Curds and Whey
+ 30 Salt
* Coconut Milk, Curds and Whey, and Salt are all available at the Cape Clawed General Store.
* If you have the SUPER|brie+ to spare, you may add 5 Magic Essence to any of the above recipes to create 5 more pieces of that cheese.
* Once you have crafted these cheeses, hunt with them in Cape Clawed.
o The Shell cheese attracts the Elder mouse which drops the Ancient Spear. Use the Harpoon Gun or Net Cannon.
o The Gumbo cheese attracts the Grandfather mouse which drops the Thorned Vine. Use the Ambush.
o The Crunchy cheese attracts the Aged mouse which drops the Rhino Horn. Use the PartyBot or Digby Drillbot.
* You only need one each of these loot items; once you have the item, stop hunting with that cheese.
* You may have noticed some blueprints for sale at the Cape Clawed General Store. They are for three ultimate traps: The Ancient Spear Launcher, the Thorned Venus Mouse Trap, and the RhinoBot.
Note the different point requirements as stated in the blueprint descriptions.
* If you have the points required (and can afford the blueprints), you can craft the traps using these recipes:
o Ancient Spear Launcher (Hydro), 12 million points required:
+ 1 Ancient Spear Launcher Blueprints
+ 1 Ancient Spear
+ 1 Launcher Parts (obtainable by smashing the Harpoon Gun or Net Cannon)
o Thorned Venus Mouse Trap (Tactical), 8 million points required:
+ 1 Thorned Mouse Trap Plans
+ 1 Thorned Vine
+ 1 Venus Mouse Trap Husk (obtainable by smashing the Venus Mouse Trap or the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap)
o Ah, but why stop there? Note that the Thorned Venus Mouse Trap can be smashed to create the Thorned Venus Mouse Trap Husk. Hmm...
+ Those of you who have crafted the Mutated Venus Mouse Trap may have guessed what comes next.
+ That's right, Dr. Frankenstein. You need another 20 Radioactive Sludge. Use Radioactive Blue in the Town of Gnawnia with your stalest trap setup to acquire them.
+ Now craft the 20 Radioactive Sludge with your Thorned Venus Mouse Trap Husk to create the Horrific Venus Mouse Trap! Muahahaha!
o RhinoBot (Physical), 16 million points required:
+ 1 RhinoBot Blueprints
+ 1 Rhino Horn
+ 1 Digby Drillbot Parts (obtainable by smashing the Digby Drillbot)
+ 24 Stale SUPER|brie+. How do you acquire these?
# The obvious answer is to obtain SUPER|brie+ and use it in a location where it is ineffective, like the Forbidden Grove, with your stalest trap setup.
# The not-so-obvious answer is to craft Runic cheese, and use it in the Town of Gnawnia with your stalest trap setup. Runic cheese also becomes Stale SUPER|brie+ when it turns stale.
# You may note that the Aged Mouse also drops Stale SUPER|brie+; you can catch more of them to get the needed amount.
* With these traps, your hunting performance in these isles should significantly improve. Don't forget to pick up the Tribal Base when you can, as the power bonus is extremely useful for these high-powered setups.
* If you don't have enough points or gold to craft them yet, don't worry. The tribal camp mice are great for that; as mentioned earlier, go to the Elub Shore for points, the Derr Dunes for gold, or the Nerg Plains if you need some of both.
* There is another thing you can do with the crafted cheeses: collecting Pepper Seeds. For that you must hunt in the appropriate tribal camp:
  •  Use the Shell cheese in the Elub Shore to attract Champion, Protector, and Elub Chieftain mice, which drop the Blue Pepper Seed. The Chieftain may also drop the Ancient Frayed Blueprint Piece.
  • Use the Gumbo cheese in the Nerg Plains to attract Defender, Slayer, and Nerg Chieftain mice, which drop the Yellow Pepper Seed. The Chieftain may also drop the Ancient Ripped Blueprint Piece.
  • Use the Crunchy cheese in the Derr Dunes to attract Gladiator, Guardian, and Derr Chieftain mice, which drop the Red Pepper Seed. The Chieftain may also drop the Ancient Mangled Blueprint Piece.
* These mice are extremely tough and are best caught with the new crafted traps, but if you do not have the points or gold required to craft them, you may find success with the regular traps.
* Collect as many Pepper Seeds as you can. Once you have collected a decent amount, and are at least Hero rank (there was so much to do as Legendary, that you might be there already), you may move on to the next chapter.
* As for the blueprint pieces, you'll be needing one of each, and also a fourth piece, the Ancient Torn Blueprint Piece, that is available at the Cape Clawed General Store for 158,175 gold. You can then combine all four pieces to get the Ancient Box Blueprints.
* You don't need this immediately; if you can't get all of the pieces, you can come back later.

Chapter 15: Jungle of Dread (Hero)

* Before venturing into the Jungle of Dread, preparations will need to be made.
* Firstly, what trap would you use? The mice in the Jungle of Dread are of the Shadow type. However, unlike the shadow mice in previous locations, these mice are resistant to Arcane type traps like the ACRONYM.
* Fortunately, the Cape Clawed trapsmith stocks Shadow type traps.
* Three of the traps will look familiar: the Sinister and Ambrosial Portals, and the Bottomless Grave.
* There is also a new trap, the Clockapult of Time. This is the best trap of the bunch, but note that it costs 2.7 million gold and requires 20 million points in your bag.
* So if you don't have the gold and/or points, you can try the Bottomless Grave instead. The Sinister Portal is not likely to be sufficient against these strong mice.
* Secondly, what cheese would you use? Note the description of the Jungle of Dread states something about a cheese made with peppers. As you may have guessed, the pepper seeds are your key to this.
* Pepper seeds aren't quite peppers though, at least not yet. So what are you waiting for? Get some Plant Pots from the Cape Clawed General Store, and get ready to do some gardening!
* As the description of the Pepper Seeds state, two Pepper Seeds of the same color crafted with a Plant Pot will get a Pepper Plant of that color.
o 2 Blue Pepper Seeds + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Magical Blue Pepper Plant
o 2 Yellow Pepper Seeds + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Sweet Yellow Pepper Plant
o 2 Red Pepper Seeds + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Spicy Red Pepper Plant
* Ah, but what happens if you plant two different Pepper Seeds in the same pot? It turns out, like in art class (but quite unlike biology class…), the colors "mix" to produce more colors of Pepper Plant!
o 1 Blue Pepper Seed + 1 Yellow Pepper Seed + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Crunchy Green Pepper Plant
o 1 Blue Pepper Seed + 1 Red Pepper Seed + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Pungent Purple Pepper Plant
o 1 Yellow Pepper Seed + 1 Red Pepper Seed + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Creamy Orange Pepper Plant
* These Pepper Plants appear in the "Misc" tab of your inventory. All the plants can be picked immediately to produce between 1 and 5 peppers of that type. Say it with me, "Plankrun peppily picked a peck of prismic peppers…"
* *ahem* Anyway, these peppers can be crafted with supplies from the Cape Clawed General Store to create new kinds of cheese, collectively known as Havarti:
o 6 Magical Blue Pepper + 2 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Magical Havarti
o 6 Sweet Yellow Pepper + 6 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Sweet Havarti
o 6 Spicy Red Pepper + 12 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Spicy Havarti
o 6 Crunchy Green Pepper + 4 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Crunchy Havarti
o 6 Pungent Purple Pepper + 8 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Pungent Havarti
o 6 Creamy Orange Pepper + 10 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Salt = 6 Creamy Havarti
* Once you have your trap and your cheese (whew!), you can now hunt in the Jungle of Dread.
* Each type of Havarti attracts a different mouse in the Jungle of Dread, which each drop a unique part of a new trap:
  • Magical Havarti attracts the Stonework Warrior Mouse, which drops the Engraved Solid Stone Slab.
  • Sweet Havarti attracts the Primal Mouse, which drops the Ethereal Rope.
  • Spicy Havarti attracts the Magma Carrier Mouse, which drops the Encrusted Metal of Time.
  • Crunchy Havarti attracts the Fetid Swamp Mouse, which drops the Hinge of Eternity.
  • Pungent Havarti attracts the Chitinous Mouse, which drops the Timeless Mystic Gem.
  • Creamy Havarti attracts the Jurassic Mouse, which drops the Ancient Relic Staff.
* These mice also may drop Fire Salt and Runic Potions.
* Collect as much Fire Salt as you can. About 18 would do.
* Runic potions may be used to convert Gouda or SUPER|brie+ cheese to Runic cheese (at great cost), for use back in the Acolyte Realm.
* You'll need one each of the six trap parts. Combine them with the Ancient Box Blueprints (details in previous chapter) to create a new trap, the Ancient Box Trap. Note that this requires 7 ingredients, so you must be at least a Knight to safely craft it.
* At long last! The Ancient Box Trap is of the Forgotten type, which is effective against Arcane type mice like the Acolyte Mouse back in the Acolyte Realm. Now you can catch them and collect their Mysterious Box with (relative) ease!
* Once you collect a Mysterious Box, open it. You want a Frozen Scroll. If you do not manage to get the Frozen Scroll, you'll have to catch more Acolytes.
* Once you have the Frozen Scroll, collect 60 Runes from the Forbidden Grove. Do not use them to make Runic cheese.
* You'll never guess what you'll need next. It's none other than the High Tension Spring trap. If you don't already have it, you need to go back to the Town of Gnawnia to get it.
* Smash the High Tension Spring trap to get High Tension Spring Parts.
* Once you've done that, you can make a new trap, the Ice Maiden:
  • 1 Frozen Scroll + 60 Runes + 1 High Tension Spring Parts = Ice Maiden
* Once you have crafted it, you may move on to the next chapter.

Chapter 16: Dracano (Knight)

* Note: This is a very new location. New things are still being discovered and as such the information here is tentative.
* You'll need to have crafted the Ice Maiden trap. If you don't have it yet, please refer to the previous chapter.
* Also, make sure you have a good supply of Pepper Seeds of the three different colors. About 10 of each would do.
* Now, use those seeds to craft the Inferno Pepper Plant:
  • 1 Blue Pepper Seed + 1 Yellow Pepper Seed + 1 Red Pepper Seed + 1 Plant Pot = 1 Inferno Pepper Plant
  • Unlike art class, this pepper plant is white.
* Like the previous plants, this can be picked to yield between 1 and 5 Inferno Peppers, to make Inferno Havarti:
  • 6 Inferno Pepper + 16 Coconut Milk + 18 Curds and Whey + 6 Fire Salt = 6 Inferno Havarti
* Now arm your Ice Maiden, Tribal Base, and Inferno Havarti, and travel to Dracano.
* There are three types of mice in Dracano: the Whelpling, the Draconic Warden, and the Dragon. The Dragon is your main target, though the other two aren't exactly horrible catches either.
* Catching the Dragon will net you lots of gold, points, and a Dragon's Chest. Its use is currently unknown. Try to catch as many as possible, backtracking to collect more Pepper Seeds and Fire Salt as necessary.
* If you are bored of this area, you can go back to catch any mice you've missed, or you can try joining a Hunting Party and competing in group tournaments. (link goes to wiki for now; I may include an appendix in the future.)
* MouseHunt is an evolving game; the developers are constantly working to add new locations, mice, items, and goals to the game. Furthermore, the MouseHunting community is always working to discover new tactics and strategies. As such, my work is not done. Check out the Nibbler for (almost) daily news on the happenings in the MouseHunt world, and check back here often for new additions to this guide as I get around to them. Until then, happy MouseHunting!

It is fun to explore, but there are certain areas where new players might get lost in, not knowing what to do next. That's what this guide is here for. :) The following information is the result of experience and the study of the MouseHunting community.

Chapter 9: Catacombs

* You may be wondering where the Catacombs are. Don't worry, you haven't missed a map or anything.
* The Travel Planner will come in handy here.
* Chart a course from your current location (probably the Pinnacle Chamber) to the Laboratory. Include the Bazaar as a stopover in the "Stopover?" column.
* Travel according to the suggested path. While you are at the Bazaar, hand over the Tattered Mousoleum Map for repairs. It'll cost you 160,000 gold.
* It takes 5 days to complete the order. Hence your final destination of your world tour: the Laboratory. Use:
o Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
o Base: Dehydration Base
o Cheese: Brie
* Collect another 30 Radioactive Blue Cheese Curd Potions (sorry, it can't be helped).
* You can check on the progress of your order anytime, even from the Laboratory, from Inventory → Cartographer.
* Once you've collected the potions and the order is done, go back to the Bazaar to pick up the Mousoleum Restoration patch.
* A new region, the Bristle Woods, appears, with a new location: the Catacombs.
* Use one or two Radioactive Blue potions in preparation.
* Be sure you have at least 316,350 gold (plus travelling costs) on hand.
* Go to the Catacombs. Immediately buy the Obelisk of Slumber from the trapsmith. You need this trap; no other trap can substitute. Use it with the Explosive Base, and Radioactive Blue cheese.
* This area behaves much like the Mousoleum did before; tough mice, but great rewards. You'll see some old mice from the Mousoleum, and some new mice. They are of a new type; the "Forgotten" type. This type is best caught using an "Arcane" trap, like the Obelisk of Slumber.
* You have 3 goals here:
o Catch a Keeper Mouse with the Keeper's Candle. This is the key to the next locations, the Forbidden Grove (sometimes this location is missing; that's normal), and the Acolyte Realm (note that it is locked; that's also normal). Do not go to those places yet.
o Collect 632,700 gold (yes, I'm aware that's a lot) to buy the Mysterious Blueprints from the General Store.
o Collect 12 pieces of Scrap Metal, dropped by the Scavenger Mice here.
* The Mysterious Blueprints are used to craft your next trap. Before crafting it, make sure you have:
o At least 3,393,600 points
o 1 Mysterious Blueprints (of course)
o 1 Onyx Stone
o 12 Scrap Metal
o 3 Magic Essence
* Magic Essence is obtainable by smashing SUPER|Brie+. Find out how to obtain SUPER|Brie+ here.
* Once you have those items (check it twice!), unequip your Obelisk of Slumber (by equipping another weapon), and smash it with your Hunter's Hammer in the crafting panel. You'll get 1 Obelisk Parts.
* Craft the Obelisk Parts with the other ingredients above (except the points :p) to get your Arcane Capturing Rod Of Never Yielding Mystery (or the ACRONYM for short).
* Note that the ACRONYM has an "Insanely Stale" cheese effect. Switch to the Polar Base or Dehydration Base to counteract this effect.
* If you accidentally smashed the Obelisk of Slumber while lacking ingredients, you may reconstruct it by crafting the Obelisk Parts with the Bead of Slumber from the General Store. It'll set you back 2,000 gold, but that's better than having to buy it again.
* Once you have crafted the ACRONYM, continue hunting until you run out of Radioactive Blue, then continue to the next chapter.
* The Scrap Metal may be a bit hard to come by. If you ran out of Radioactive Blue cheese, don't have the 12 needed to craft the ACRONYM, but have the Keeper's Candle, you don't have to go back to the Laboratory. Just grab the Mysterious Blueprints, and continue to the next chapter.

Chapter 10: Forbidden Grove/Acolyte Realm

* Notice that the Curds and Whey in the Catacombs are extremely cheap; only 3 gold per unit. Go ahead and stock about 500 units.
* You do not need to stock much cheese for the next areas. Take along about 50 Brie, just in case; refund the rest at the Town of Gnawnia. Now, you may ask, how will you hunt without cheese? Well...
o You may have noticed a crafting item called Stale Cheese, created every time cheese goes stale on your trap.
o Stale Cheese is used to make Ancient and Runic cheese, which are needed to hunt in the next areas.
o You should have about 100+ of it, maybe slightly less if you've been hunting since before Stale Cheese was released. Nevertheless, you'll find yourself needing more soon enough.
o For this reason you need trap components that have the worst cheese effect ratings possible. If you still do not have the Explosive Base, buy it now. If you don't have a weapon with a "Very Stale" rating or worse (see ranking here), buy the Mouse Rocketine.
* Now go to the Bazaar. Stock about 400 Ionized Salt, more if you can afford it. Just make sure to keep enough for travels, and keep in mind that you will have to use what you buy, since Ionized Salt refunds for less than the purchase price. Also stock as much regular Salt as you have Curds and Whey. Do not confuse the two types of salt.
* In the previous chapter, I have mentioned some unusual properties of the Forbidden Grove and the Acolyte Realm. Here I shall further explain them.
o Basically, the Forbidden Grove stays "open" for 3 hours at a time.
o After this it "closes", disappears from the travel menu, and sends any hunters that are in it into the Acolyte Realm. This is the only way to access the Acolyte Realm.
o The Forbidden Grove then stays "closed" for three hours before "opening" again. Hunters in the Acolyte Realm have to manually travel back to the Forbidden Grove if they wish to hunt there.
* The Forbidden Grove Timer is useful for predicting the next opening and closing times.
* UPDATE: The period of time the Forbidden Grove opens and closes by seems to have changed recently. Stay tuned for updates.
* Wait till the Forbidden Grove is open. If it is open, but there are less than 30 minutes left till closing time, wait for the next opening time. While waiting, you can hunt in the Bazaar using:
o Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
o Base: Dehydration Base
o Cheese: Brie
* Prepare for the Forbidden Grove by crafting some Ancient cheese, with the following recipe (makes 3 pieces):
o 3 Stale Cheese
o 6 Ionized Salt
* You can also add 3 Magic Essence to the recipe to make 3 more pieces, if you have the SUPER|Brie+ to spare. I recommend however, that you save any SUPER|Brie+ you may have for Runic cheese, detailed later in this chapter.
* You may also have collected some Ancient Cheese Curd Potions from the Catacombs. You may use them if you like, but they are very expensive to use, at the cost of 1,900 gold per piece of Brie converted. Even SUPER|Brie+ requires 900 gold a piece to convert. It's probably better to use the Stale Cheese instead.
* You only need to craft 15 to 18 pieces of Ancient for each visit to the Forbidden Grove, since you'll only be staying there for 3 hours.
* Also craft about 50+ White Cheddar using the following simple recipe (makes 1 piece):
o 1 Curds and Whey
o 1 Salt
* Once the Forbidden Grove is open, travel to it. Use:
o Weapon: ACRONYM / Obelisk of Slumber
o Base: Dehydration Base (with ACRONYM) / Explosive Base (with Obelisk of Slumber)
o Cheese: Ancient
* There are more "Forgotten" mice here. They are tough; even the ACRONYM may have some trouble catching them. Nevertheless, if you got this far, you should be used to tough areas by now. Stick it out; the rewards are worth it.
* The Scavenger Mice here still drop Scrap Metal, which will help you craft the ACRONYM if you haven't yet.
* Mice here also drop Runes. Collect as many as you can. The Scavenger Mouse in particular can drop up to 7 or 8 runes at a time!
* When the grove closes, you'll be automatically transported to the Acolyte Realm.
* What do you do here? Well, you have 4 choices:
* 1. Craft and use Runic cheese
o Note: If you still haven't crafted the ACRONYM, this strategy may not be profitable. I recommend you save your Runes until you have the ACRONYM.
o If you have managed to collect some Runes, you can use it to craft Runic cheese with this recipe (makes 1 piece):
+ 1 Rune
+ 1 Stale Cheese
+ 3 Ionized Salt
o You can also add 1 Magic Essence to the recipe to make another piece. This allows you to make more Runic cheese from the Runes you have.
o With the Runic cheese, you will attract Golem, Gorgon, and Spectre mice, which you may have seen in the Forbidden Grove. You'll also attract some new mice, the Wight, Lich, and Acolyte mice.
o The new mice can be quite hard to catch, and are mainly a source of bragging rights. The Acolyte Mouse, in particular, is a mouse of the "Arcane" type, which no trap you currently have access to is effective against, as you can see by this table. Nevertheless, there is a very small chance that you might catch it; if you do, congratulations! The Acolyte Mouse has a chance to drop the Mysterious Box.
o You'll be able to craft a trap that will make it easier to catch the Acolyte much later; for now, don't worry if you couldn't catch one.
* 2. Continue using Ancient cheese
o Note: If you still haven't crafted the ACRONYM, this strategy may not be profitable.
o You can continue using the Ancient cheese you were using in the Forbidden Grove.
o However, it isn't as efficient a use for the Ancient cheese; you will earn less gold on average, won't attract the new mice, and you can't get any Scrap Metal or Runes here.
o Nevertheless, this strategy can be used to easily catch the Gate Guardian Mouse, which is more common here than in the Forbidden Grove.
* 3. Create more Stale Cheese
o If you did not manage to collect any Runes, or used up all your Runic, you can use this time to create more Stale Cheese.
o To do this, switch to your stalest trap setup. Use the ACRONYM if you have it, otherwise use the Mouse Rocketine. Use the Explosive Base.
o Use the White Cheddar you crafted. If you run out of Curds and Whey or Salt to craft White Cheddar, you may use any regular Cheddar you may have received from King's Rewards.
o You won't attract any mice, but you should produce a lot of Stale Cheese for later use.
* 4. Hunt elsewhere
o If you've lots of Stale Cheese already and don't feel like making more, you can use this time to hunt elsewhere.
o As you're only going to hunt there for 3 hours, travel costs are important. Use the Travel Planner to chart your course.
o Choose a cheap location. I recommend either the Bazaar or the Town of Digby. Use:
+ Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
+ Base: Dehydration Base
+ Cheese: Brie
* Whatever you choose to do, watch for the time the Forbidden Grove reopens. Once it does, craft more Ancient and go back there for more hunting. If you had changed your trap setup for staling, remember to change it back.
* Try to plan it so that you can stay on your computer for the duration that the Forbidden Grove will be open, so you can sound the horn and maximize the hunting you do there. If you won't be on the computer when the Forbidden Grove closes, it's probably best to just leave your trap at the Acolyte Realm.
* Continue this until you run out of Ionized Salt and Ancient Cheese.
* Once you do, you can either restock Ionized Salt and Cheddar and resume hunting here, or you can continue to the next chapter.

Chapter 11: Catching up

* The Whisker Woods is a relatively new region. I have included mention of a few locations in it (the Calm Clearing and the Great Gnarled Tree) in the previous chapters because it gives you something to do while leveling up. Plus the mice just look darn cool. :p
* This chapter is intended for those who either had progressed through the other regions before the release of the Whisker Woods, or missed the maps the first time round.
* If you don't have access to the Calm Clearing:
o You need to hunt in the Harbour, and catch a Granite Mouse that has the Whisker Woods Clearing Map Piece. Use:
+ Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
+ Base: Wooden Base with Target
+ Cheese: Brie
* If you don't have access to the Great Gnarled Tree:
o You need to hunt in the Calm Clearing, and catch a Cyclops Mouse that has the Gnarled Tree Map Piece. Use:
+ Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
+ Base: Dehydration Base
+ Cheese: Brie
* Once you have both maps, you may move on to the next chapter.

Chapter 12: Great Gnarled Tree/Lagoon

* Go to the Great Gnarled Tree. Use:
o Weapon: PartyBot / Ambush
o Base: Dehydration Base
o Cheese: Brie
* Catch a Fairy Mouse with the Map of the Lagoon. If you've been here, you may already have this; check your inventory.
* Also collect 30 Gnarled Cheese Curd Potions. Yes, you can say the Great Gnarled Tree is to the Lagoon what the Laboratory is to the Mousoleum and Catacombs.
* Before travelling to the Lagoon, let's consider what trap setup you would use.
* As you might have guessed, you'd want to use the Gnarled cheese here, but what about the trap? Checking the wiki entry for the Lagoon reveals a rather curious property. There are mostly Physical and Tactical type mice here, however there are two Shadow type mice, and one mouse of a new "Hydro" type.
* This means there is no one strategy to use in the Lagoon; what setup you'd use largely depends on your goals here.
o 1. If you're just trying to earn the most gold and points, aim for the Physical and Tactical mice. This means to use the PartyBot or Ambush with the Dehydration Base.
o 2. If you're trying to catch the Shadow mice here (i.e. the Goblin and the Harpy), use the ACRONYM with the Dehydration Base. Expect to miss a lot of Tactical mice however.
o 3. If you're trying to get to the next area, the S.S. Huntington II, you want to aim for the sole Hydro mouse in this area, the Hydra Mouse, which has a chance of dropping an important item, the Ship Blueprints.
+ However, you may have noticed that you do not have access to a "Hydro" trap yet.
+ According to this table, the next best thing will be a Physical trap, as the other types of trap are less effective against Hydro mice.
+ If you have the PartyBot, use it. If you don't have it, you may want to go to the Town of Digby to purchase the Digby Drillbot (409,500 gold). It is rather pricey, but worth the expense, as it is useful in later locations and can be upgraded.
# If you need to make more gold, read this for information on how to best make gold from the Catacombs.
+ Use the Dehydration Base with the PartyBot, or the Explosive Base with the Digby Drillbot.
* Whew. Once you have decided what setup to use, arm it with the Gnarled cheese, then go to the Lagoon.
* If you manage to acquire the Ship Blueprints, you can then craft the Ship, a.k.a. the S.S. Huntington II, using this recipe:
o 1 Ship Blueprints
o 900 Splintered Wood (available at the Training Grounds General Store)
o 100 Rope (available here at the Lagoon General Store)
o 70 Bolts of Cloth (also available here at the Lagoon General Store)
o 18 Scrap Metal (may be dropped by the Hydra. If you can't get enough here, you can go back to the Forbidden Grove.)
o 1 King's Reserve Bubbleh (available here at the Lagoon General Store)
* However, you may note that this requires 6 ingredients, so Legendaries can't craft the Ship safely. Or can they? If you use the recipe without the King's Reserve Bubbleh, you'll get an Unchristened Ship. Craft that with the Bubbleh to get the Ship! Tada!
* The ingredients for the Ship are rather pricey and can cost upwards of 600,000 gold combined. If you need more gold, go back to the Catacombs.
* What if you can't get the Ship Blueprints? Well, you may have spotted it on sale back at the Catacombs General Store. However, at 750,000 gold, this is by no means a cheap option.
